How is the City going to pay for the OLRT project?
The OLRT project is funded in the amount of $600 million committed by the Government of Canada and a further $600 million from the Province of Ontario, for a total senior government contribution of $1.2 billion. The City share will be funded from savings from optimized bus service hours, existing transit capital contributions, provincial gas tax revenue, and development charges in line with conservative forecasts.
